Portland artist, Lauren K. Newman composes epic indie rock, piano composed, piano fronted with lots of guitars, heavy drums, instrumentation. Epic dramatic melodies, songs have lots of “parts”. Vocals are dramatic and reminiscent of Magneta Lane. The whole shebang brings to mind Helium/Mary Timony. The songs are dense, which is good, but is their main fault. In using so many instruments, reaching so high into the “compositional” realm a lot of this falls flat, feeling amateurish while so professional. Produced well, played well, written well. You be the judge: is this awesome female fronted indie rock? Pick any track. FCC clean.
