Various artists perform a benefit for Richard Gere's Healing the Divide Foundation. (to bridge cultural gaps & forge new bonds between peoples around the World) proceeds from the sale of the CD benefit peoples of Tibet and the Himalayan region. Performed Sept. 21 2003 FCC compliant 1: 5: 02 intro by Richard Gere then speech by the Dalai Lama in Tibetian with translation and then some English by the Dalai Lama. Nice intro to track #2 ***2: 5:35 throaty chant by The Gyuto Tantric Choir ***3: 11:00 Nivedon raga by Anoushka Shankar on sitar with tabla big applause at end ****4: 8:36 Himalayan Mountain BIG Horn with Native American Flute and spoken word " Peace Chant" by Nawang Khechog & R. Carlos Nakai , mellow & soothing. applause at end ****5: 7:30 a piece by Philip Glass & Foday Musa Suso on kora and mellow vocal scat/soft wail ****6: 4:01 fantastic sound of Kronos Quartet with bowed strings and throaty gravelly voice of Tom Waits 7: 3:55 joking about the gig intro by Tom Waits music starts @0:41 with Kronos Quartet, he sounds like a pirate.
