Doomy, traditional heavy metal from the veteran Swedish band. This is very basic and at times epic but certainly classy and a good album. The vocalist this time out is Rob Lowe of Solitude Aeturnus. His vocals are somewhere between Ronnie James Dio and Bobby Liebling of Pentagram. No frills, heavy/doom metal focused on riffs and often histronic vocals. Good stuff.
(((1))) Slow, short guitar intro typical but good.
((((2)))) Very, very METAL in the most classic form – low tuned riffs, soaring vocals and well-punctuated drumming
(((((3))))) Doom! Slow and bleak. To the f’n point.
((((4)))) Clean sound and catchy chorus. Has that “this is the single & video” vibe. Very 80s doom/trad. metal. Classy.
(((5))) Up tempo riffing & structures, way histronic vocals. Not awful but too much plodding.
((((6)))) (FCC “fuck” sung twice & 4:47) Epic, doom with a lot of great riffs and a really nice breakdown.
((((7)))) Heavy & dense with odd-metered vocal touches (think early Savatage), catchy basic riffs, an odd poppy breakdown & wailing solos.
(((((8))))) KILLER! huge sound, gallop-y riffage, very 80’s “true metal” sound overall, aka: Dio, Savatage, Omen.
((((9)))) Really cool, instrumental “doom-version” er…diversion.
((((10)))) Very epic and very memorable, resonanting, total 80’s heavy/doom action. They mean the river Styx not the band Styx.
(((((11))))) New version of an old classic with the current vocalist. Perfect sound.
(((((12))))) Killer, doom metal. This is a new version of a song that appeared on “Nightfall” in 1987.
