LASSE MARHAUG - "Alive - Live Recordings 1998-2006" CD (Smalltown Superjazzz)
Loud, avalanche, feedback, noise. Relentless, static and feedback loops. Actually there are plenty of dark, drone-y scary moments on the CD to go along with the harsh noise. MARHAUG is from Norway and is also part of the duo JAZZKAMMER and has also released duo CDs with MAJA RAKJE and ANLA COURTIS and collaborated with a huge list of other musicians, everything from MATS GUSTAFSSON to OTOMO YOSHIHIDE and PETER REHBERG to AUBE.
**1. Sounds of an avalanche. Pure feedback, static, harsh noise. Don't let the quiet intro fool you. This is loud.
**2. Clanking percussion and crunching noises. Long improv. Loops. The kitchen sink. Ends with a lot of harsh noise
3. Buzzing feedback that breaks apart as the track goes.
4. Even more sounding like an avalanche. Rumbling harsh noise.
5. A buzzing drone of harsh feedback. Sounds like a power tool.
6. Short electronic noises. Like plugging and unplugging pedals.
7. Looped, rumbling and tumbling. Like a bowling ball in a dryer. The track turns more and more into harsh static noise.
8. Subtle looped quiet feedback.
**9. More bass and sounds like motors. Gets higher pitched and more harsh. Ends sounding like static.
10. Harsh noise. Are those vocals?
11. Like track 1.
12. Long loops of harsh noise.
Good stuff -mph
