Noise. His medium is feedback and loops. The word crunchy keeps coming to me. Out of this black/gray crunch Marhaug creates intricate sound sculptures. Really rewarding to listen to. FCC clean. Picks 2-4, and they're all unique btw. *1-24:09) Crinkly, crackly. Echoey. Dark earthy rumble at -20:00. -15:00 becomes watery and space-sireny. At -12:30 new-age ambient. At -8:30 rhythm develops, and backwards looped samples are thrown in. Last -4:30, snowy, crunchy fuzz. At -2:30 lots of TV samples underneath. **2-9:40) Barebones squeaky modem beat. Plays with volume and resonances. Slowly morphs into a different rhythm eventually encorporating scratchy recordings of a marching band and laughter. **3-9:49) Loud almost helicopter tone. Becomes very fluttery, stuttery and fuller. Almost dark, dance beat somehow. Woah, one steady crescendo until it starts to come unglued around -:50. **4-10:59) Traditional instruments! Elec. guitar and piano playing an ominous theme befitting album title. This loops over and over for 6 or 7 minutes before waves of fuzz blanket it. | ||
