Mr. Varis creates 14 varations on a Finnish jews harp (aka: mouth harp). Very springy sounding as you might imagine. Often fun and sometimes just odd. Features a number of traditional Finnish and Norwegian tunes mixed together with fiddles and even Indonesian bamboo harp. Interesting stuff. |
((((1))))) Sounds like a bunch of bed springs hopping madly through Finnish coast.
((((2)))) Vocoder-like vocal tones through the harp. Whoa! Fiddle comes in around 1:30 and provides some nice accompaniment.
(((3))) Well coiled, reverbating and slow gets better when the viola and guitar come in.
((((4)))) “Typical” uppity Finnish polska with plenty of fiddle. The mouth harp certain takes away any “orindary” sound, though.
(((5))) Really vibrative to the point of sounding like a cartoon sound effect.
(((6))) Slow, kinda trippy and sort of melancholy. I say “sort of” since mouth harp has too much of a comedic effect at times.
((((7)))) Airy, bouncy, tribal that sounds like a mix of tones ranging from Aborigine Australia to Tuvan Throat singing.
((8)) Slow and creaky, nothing too special.
((((9)))) Melodic and kinda sing-songy
(((10))) Mid-paced waltz, some interesting tones.
((((11)))) Almost like jews harp led uh, “folk-techno”. Strange but worth your time.
(((12))) Slow prayer song/piece with a decent amount of space between notes.
((((13)))) A good mix of mouth harp and Asian/Eastern tones.
(((14))) Norwegian folk melody with stretched out notes and a bit louder, too.
