Album Review
Reviewed 2008-07-06
Don’t be fooled by the Italian name. This NY fiddler (Irish on his mother’s side) plays traditional Celtic music with energy, flair, and style. Joined by various guests, this is a warm and inviting release that makes you want to dance or at least nod your heat over a pint of Guinness. All instrumentals except #7. It’s all good, but these are my favorites: (Sligo is pronounced SLY-go)

1. Solo fiddle (joined later by guitar) on a lively set of reels.
2. Fiddle duet, playing in unison. Two reels.
3. Fiddle & uilleann pipes. Three reels that move along nicely.
4. Sweet, old-fashioned hornpipes for fiddle & piano.
5. Beautiful, sad, nostalgic slow air for fiddles & cello. Sigh…
7. Mid/uptempo song w/male vocals. Guitar & fiddle. Great sound.
9. Toe-tapping reels for piano & fiddle. Bright & catchy.
12. Fiddles & bodhran keep this set of polkas moving.
14. Warm & nicely simple reels for fiddle & flute.
