Kooky free-jazz trio heavy on electronics and/or electric piano, and a host of other instruments. Sometimes a Jazz Of The Future sound; sometimes a nice harsh dose of noise. Its more jovial moments, like the first two tracks, resemble an art-school Thelonious Moog, or maybe the bastard son of Bitches' Brew, dropped on its head. (Grooves may pop up here and there, but it's abstract stuff overall.) Elsewhere, the trio gets into serious improvising.
With Stephen Rush, Tom Abbs, and Geoff Mann.
- Electronic blippy craziness over cool jazzy drumming. Trumpet, crazy fender Rhodes.
- A coolly rough swing with electric piano, bass, drums. Funky jazz of The Future.
- Eerie atmosphere. Slow, airy start; later, tense pulsing
- Marching snare drum, ghostly weirdness behind it
- An electronics epic (10 minutes). Sometimes abrasive and rough , it includes a duet of messed-up violin with electronics. Ghostly ending.
- Peaceful, mid/fast vibraphone. Serene.
- Slow and eclectic. Blippy sci-fi noodling; stern snare drum; cool quirky bass.
- Hyper scribbling. Cools off but stays scribbly.
- Percussive pecking, fast with some cool little sounds. A jazzy second half includes a nice bass solo.
- Mandolin! for a jittery acoustic intro. Then, electronics and drums attack! Fast, forceful.
- Mid/fast, open-ended improv. Last few minutes: Nice jazzy jumble
- Dark stompy intro w/wheezing sounds. Then, *gospel* electric piano! then a catchy beat and a nutty synth solo, with tuba!!
