Klaus Schulze, one of the pioneers of always longwinded and occasionally inspired progressive synthesizer(-only) music in the 70s collaborates with Lisa Gerrard, half of initially goth-y, later tribal, always enchanting Aussie duo Dead Can Dance and now the queen of the ambient spiritual soundtrack. They complement each other well – Schulze’s floating swooshes of melody, blurpy rhythm tracks, and mutating moods, and Gerrard’s somewhat instinctual, often wordless vocalizations, mostly in the lower registers. That’s pretty much it for seven looooong tracks. Hypnotizing. Depending on your mood or the length of your exposure, this is captivating or deadly dull.
