COREY CHRISTIANSEN: Roll With It
Origin, 2008

SOUL-JAZZ – Old school guitar/organ/sax/drums quartet, mainstream 1960s sound. Yeah, it’s lightweight – a sax player with more grits & gravy would have been a big help here – but Christiansen’s classic guitar tone does sound mighty tasty alongside organist Pat Bianchi…

Fo’s Picks: 2, 3, 4, 6

1. 6:34 – very smooth sound: crisp guitar solo, laid-back organ, light soul sax
2. 7:24 – easygoing roll: breezy sax, flowing organ, ringing guitar
3. 9:39 – happy, funky li’l jam: flows easily with a good-time vibe, nicely done
4. 5:24 – uptempo romp: grooving guitar, organ is all over it, sax pops
5. 9:51 – midtempo ballad with a floating/gliding feel
6. 5:00 – something different: resonator guitar, speedy drums, very modern
7. 9:48 – bluesy/funky: airy grooves, light propulsion, hums nicely
