Irina Mikhailova & B. Smiley: Heartbeat of my Soul Elefaria Records B. Smiley guest-DJed at KZSU back in December '08 on my show and gave me this disc. It's really quite nice - not really a dance CD, it's actually more of a world-exotica CD. Nice breathy vocals from Irina who is from Kazakhstan. B. Smiley and others lay out some nice instrumentals and beats. Try: 1,2,4,5,9. 1. Lushly layered vocals & chants, Indianesque percussion, synth washes 2. Dubby bassline, sensuous vocals, swirly synths 3. A bit more breathy & plaintive vocals, dubby bassline 4. Downtempo, w/ trumpet, tablas - jazzy exotica w/ plaintive vox 5. Chill-out exotica w/ sensuous vox and fluffy synths 6. Slow breathy echoey vox, exotic pop 7. Broken-beat patterns, plaintive vox 8. A consistent droney effect, with uplifting vocals 9.
