Doublemoon Remixed

Turkish music, mostly of the “modern traditional” variety, remixed with everything from funk and club to jazz and trance. Solid musicianship and creative productions – no shortage of interesting listening here. Plenty of that groovy eastern exoticism that the young folks are so hep to these days… (All kidding aside, it IS mighty tasty!)
No FCCs. I’m feeling 5, 12 and 13 the most.
1. 5:42 ***percussive flute intro, then swingy relaxed midtempo groove with lovely female vocals. Figs and spices everywhere.
2. 5:33 **funky electronic and hand percussion, uptempo, upbeat, and boinky. Cool, exotic instrumentation, passionate male vocals. and boinks. Profoundly groovy percussion.
3. 4:50 **moody and ethereal electronic strings, slinky downtempo percussion. Strings get into a bit of a bad mood later, but the sax helps them mellow out.
4. 4:33 *downtempo, relaxed, sort of a smooth modern soul groove, but with a bit of funkiness to the beat, and great… what is it, oboe?
5. 3:09 ****midtempo funky rhythm with lots of interesting sounds – sultry male vocals, bits of violin and piano, and what sounds rather like a digeridoo. The unbearable lightness of frogs!
6. 2:59 ***solo stringed instrument with a bit of stretchiness, then slightly downtempo groove with a girl hip hop group. Sort of pop, but a lot of fun.
7. 4:16 **fast cool jazz bass and percussion – actually, it might be hot jazz, now that I think about it. Actually, this one is pretty hard to pin down.
8. 4:47 *ethereal floaty sounds, bits of male vocals, very mellow and tranceaceous. Ends with VERY low-level bass.
9. 3:27 ***eastern strings and western electronics, laid-back club feel, nice syncopation, a few blats – got everything you need! Goes all glitchy midway.
10. 5:50 **minimalist syncopated beat, spacey sounds, mellow. Pretty, exotic female vocals.
11. 3:58 ***midtempo rock beat with strong bass and syncopation. Rather repetitive, but an interesting sound.
12. 5:24 ****slow pulses, adding elements to build into a complex dub with a nice funky beat and dubbed up horns. Some very sweet exotic elements. Sugar!
13. 5:32 ****processed eastern exotica – switches between several very traditional Turkish sounds and funky club beat. Odd and interesting.
14. 6:30 **slow, low fade in of electronics, scrapes and squawps… Rather downtempo beat takes a bit to come along, other elements sound almost backmasked. Arabesque-style female vocals, jazzy sax solo.
