Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend

Jungle/Drum and Bass, old school that brings in the noise to border on “drill and bass”, bad ass stuff that fits in with metal/speed metal, noise or anything with damn good heavy beat. Remixes and mixes galore. Nothing wimpy in the lot. Fans of 187, Obsolete, Ambush Records, the hardcore. I’ll let their own press fill in the blanks here:

Artist// Submerged is the artist owner behind the Ohm Resistance label movement. Having played alongside Bill Laswell, Dr. Israel, John Zorn, Mike Patton, and others, he offers up this collection of new tracks and vinyl-only favourites, along with a mix chronicling the history of his labels Ohm Resistance and Obliterati. Album// Violence as First Nature contains three brand new drum n bass anthems in Homicide Bomber, Consciousness, and Bad Time for the Empire, in addition to vinyl only hits like Dirty Bomb, Servant, and more. The album features collaborations with and remixes by Bill Laswell, Scorn, Technical Itch, and more.

Disc 1:
1) ~2 min spooky intro, then evil jungle, machine gunfire beats mixed in
2) creepy treated sample, tale of decapitating intro, after 2 min a smoking beat rises from the carnage
3) quiet near industrial pounding intro, jumps right into skipping breaky jungle
4) creepy low rumble in intro, kicks into badassedness
5) more techno/melodic acid house or something feel
6) jungly w/ garage hardcore basslines
7) tempo is set right off, though lightly, jungle kicks in, mellow serene ending
8) sci-fi creepy intro, chill skippy beat appears, not driving at all
9) breaky jungle from git-go, scifi feel, deep basslines, housey melodies involved, uptempo
10) uptempo chill start, funky syncopated beats appear, deep bass coolness
11) perfect mix of ambience, sci-fi, sickness, and a hyper up beat that is perfect
12) chill start with the cymbal theme, rather typical old school D&B intro but then just explodes, kick ass searing basslines, a mellow ending revealing a metal tinge (hint, play a metal song after)

Disc 2: A re-mix intended to be played on continuous, the above tracks mixed up and mashed, not too recognizable.

Some FCCs noted as follows: 8,9

Notable: track 6 has Jello Biafra “all rights have been suspended” and it gets hotter than shit 18) is fucking badass! 24) smoking!!
