My Maudlin Career

Scottish 60s-influence indie (twee?) pop. Fourth album from these Glasgow natives. Often comparable to Belle & Sebastian but definitely with some 60s girl group/ Phil Spector influences. Vocals and many of the instruments are drenched in reverb. I like the songs I picked out but I don't love it overall.

starts with big drums. alternates between straight forward verses and big + catchy chorus.
mid tempo. nice 60s feel to the drums. lush strings during the chorus.
med-slow. sort of a ballad with a bit of a lilt to it.
med-slow. ringing keyboards, rumbling drums.
mid tempo. upbeat song. a bit too saccharine for me.
med-slow. ballad. nice melodies and orchestration
med-slow and really subdued.
mid-tempo. strong guitar and plinking piano. really catchy.
mid tempo. pretty laid back. electric piano, guitar and high harmony vocals play a big part.

med-fast. some horns add punctuation to an upbeat song. reminds me of Belle & Sebastian
