COREY WILKES & ABSTRAKT PULSE: Cries from tha Ghetto Pi, 2009 POSTMODERN JAZZ – Young trumpet phenom Corey Wilkes plays with the cream of Chicago’s avant scene, from the Art Ensemble to Tortoise. He also has a funky soulful side, as seen on his previous CD (Drop It). This disc is mostly bent modern jazz plus moments of total abstraction.
