MO’FONE: Sling Shot

FUNKY BOP – Wheee… Bay Area sax/sax/drum trio (beefed up to a quartet on 4 tracks) plays stripped-down grooves. The saxes get down and churn it up while the drums stomp playfully. Great fun for all.

2. 4:57 – chewy midtempo, tasty groove, saxes slip ‘n’ slide
3. 7:05 – New Orleans quartet: slow gospel march, then upbeat & cheery
4. 4:49 – theme glides along, gets nice ‘n’ funky in the middle
5. 4:46 – cruising groove, turns twisty as it goes
6. 7:28 – quartet: soulful sax lines over a simple chugging groove
7. 5:27 – quartet: melancholy intro, then a good-time thump
8. 7:49 – quartet: slightly dragging at first, then a party gets out of hand
9. 4:30 – sneaky tune with a jumpin’ beat
