JOE MARTIN: Not By Chance Anzic, 2009 MODERN JAZZ – Bassist Martin leads a top-flight all star quartet in a very satisfying set of modern mainstream jazz. Martin’s tunes tend to have three layers: catchy, in the pocket grooves underpin warm, softly constructed melodies, which turn to propulsive flights in the solos.
