A noted singer/songwriter/activist for the Chicano movement in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Not well known outside that circle. His music rough and raw, with an obviously untrained voice. But it’s also passionate, inspiring, and powerful. This is not music for the sake of music, but music that helped inspire a revolution. All tracks feature that Tex-Mex sound of guitars and vocals as a waltz or ranchera. Read the notes for lots of useful & interesting info that will make you angry at the treatment the Chicanos received. Every track worth playing. 1. Upbeat Chicano anthem w/strong guitars and vocals. 2. Midtempo waltz in honor of Ceasar Chavez. 3. Midtempo story about high school students staging a protest. 4. Mid/upbeat and driving w/a hint of sadness and anger. 5. Relaxed folk dance story of the fight for land. 6. Sweetly old-fashioned folk song about celebrating your heritage. 7. Midtempo and sweeping w/a warm lyrical sound. 8. Fast strings, tripping quick vocals, sounds lighthearted but it’s not. 9. Lightly bouncing, midtempo and warm. 10. Mid/upbeat bounce w/a catchy and lively sound. 11. Bright and warm ode to a renowned activist. Sweet. 12. Upbeat tale of a notorious folk hero. 13.
