Mostly improvised Indian (classical sounding but breaks out of the
strict form) compositions but with the Eastern successor of the
Hawaiian/Blues slide guitar the Mohan Veena, which takes the role
of both sitar & sarod. Improvised with former Counting Crows
bassist Matt Malley and Subhen Chatterjee on tabla. All tracks are
great. Checkout "A Meeting By the river" from 1994 with Ry Cooder.
1: 5:35 mid tempo, almost a country/bluegrass sound
2: 12:47 nice bass intro then plucked string noodling, with tabla, slow then at 4 min. picks up the rhythm. sizzling Mohan Veena with faster tabla groove
3: 7:13 male vocal wail intro then mid tempo cool plucking
*****4: 9:06 Mohan Veena blowout, WOW!
5: 14:28 mid tempo, powerful Mohan Veena, big tabla, big bass with some interesting keyboards
****6: 10:19 slow start then mid to faster, big bass, kicks in big time at 6 min. D  Farrell 05/2010
