David Leikam Reviewed 2010-04-22 | ||
Frank Martin’s Golgotha: Golgotha, oratorio for 5 vocal soloists, chorus, organ, and orchestra (1945–1948) is based on Golgotha, the biblical name for the place where Jesus was crucified. Swiss composer Frank Martin (1890-1974) was inspired by Rembrandt’s etching of The Three Crosses (1653). A magnificently haunting and introspective recording of this grand opus and worth playing complete or in separate movement sections. – dBug || No FCCs Disc: 1 1. 07:45 - Prologue. Père père!
