Carnivores / All Night Dead USA -- reviewed by Mason
Rocking psych garage-rock. Loads of reverb and shoegazey noise. Funny genre digressions occasionally added onto the basic garage-rock base. Generally bright, fun, major-key.
No FCCs. My favorites were 2, 5.
1. Slow, heavy, big sound, chorused vocals, nice tambourine. 2. * Punky, psychedelic noise, packs a punch. 3. Fast punker, cool organ. Funny country-ish interlude. 4. Funny lounge sound with tinkly piano under loads of echo. Cool yelling chorus rudely breaking into the laid-back feel. 5. * Energetic 4-on-the-floor rock, female vox, head-banging yelled chorus, funky bass on second verse. 6. Loungey with calypso beat, guiro, organ, and buried under the reverb something that sounds like steel drums. 7. 60s girl-group feel. 8. Brief shoegazey interlude. 9. Fast swing-beat rocker, then dizzy carnivalesque sound, then slower anthemic rock winding it up. 10. Slower heavy rock, George-of-the-Jungle drums alternating with military march feel. Long noise fade-out. 11. Slow piano-and-voice song. Long silence 3/4 through followed by very quiet outro.
