How to describe: If Jesus and Mary Chain were an 80’s synth rock band, if Tuxedomoon were a Scottish psyche band, if Joy Division used drum machines, if early Cure had a different singer. There is definitely something 80’s about this Brooklyn group, the minor keys, the drum machine that’s dark new wave dancey half the time, understated fuzzed vocals, fuzzy reverby guitars. Excellent stuff. For fans fo all the aforementioned bands. All songs great, no FCCs. 1) driving with evil noisy synths and reverby twangy guitar, new wavey surf beat 2) upbeat and peppy, poppy, somehow reminds me of OutKast’s “hey ya” 3) slower synth rock, simple drum machine 4) mid paced and pleasant, jesus and mary chain feel 5) dark synth with upbeat drum machine 6) a JD type beat, deep early Cure bass line, soaring synth and slashing guitar riffs 7) good beat, cool harmonizing synths, Tuxedomoon leaps to mind 8) faster driving beat 9-10) very Cure’esque, almost “normal” songs 11) slower, “slowing down”, more minimal 12) upbeat synth rock 13) different in that the guitar takes center, deep twangy, cool fun beat and interesting sounds 14) driving synth rock, ends cold 15) smarmy swing feel, dense psyche pop | ||
