Glen Roven’s Goodnight Moon: A lullaby for Soprano and Orchestra and The Runaway Bunny Concerto
Based on these two classic children bedtime stories, Glen Roven has composed these delightful compositional arrangements for orchestra, soprano, and narrator. This release here is also in honor of author Margaret Wise Brown's 100 Birthday (b. May 23, 1910). – dBug || No FCCs
1. 12:15 – Goodnight Moon: Lullaby for Soprano and Orchestra with Lauren Flanigan
Goodnight Moon is about a child saying goodnight to everything around: "Goodnight room. Goodnight moon. Goodnight cow jumping over the moon. Goodnight light, and the red balloon..."
This is a live recording with soprano and orchestra to make for a quite interesting setting for this classic children bedtime story.
2. 19:32 – The Runaway Bunny: A Concerto for Violin, Reader, and Orchestra with Kate Mulgrew
The Runaway Bunny’s plot deals with a small rabbit, which wants to run away. His mother, however, tells him, “if you run away, I will run after you".
This work is also performed live and well presented here though not as interesting as Goodnight Moon, I thought but still worth playing on your radio show for a good children’s story.
