Your Imaginary Friend Reviewed 2010-06-27 | ||
Think: Blank Dogs, DEVO on meth or sniffing glue, Cosmetics, Glass Candy. Primo shit, noisey new wavey synth/noise rock that ambushes you with great noisey psyche/garage before you know it. Great shit! Male vocals buried in fuzz, simple drum machine beats, excellent guitar playing with weird melodies and effects. This is super cool, three thumbs up (one up brick’s butt). 1) instrumental: simple beat, new wave feel, noisy but accessible synth, brief and ends cold but blends into next track 2) upbeat, very echoey vocals 3) simple dark, guit driven rock 4) freaky synth, goes double time in bridge, otherwise a strange slow noise filled plod 5) swingy surf rhythm all smeared and fucked 6) swing surf continues w/ bigger basslines and searing cool guit lines 7) strange rock w/ cool guit riffs, new wavey again 8) upbeat noise bass driven, relentless 9) slow weird plod, no wave Teenaged Jesus and the Jerks 10) simple beat is utterly smothered in beautiful layers of noise rock 11) upbeat crazy punky feel, garage psyche starts to get underlined 12) cool as shit hip grinding beat, very synthy, darkwave 13) swingy dirty psyche! Huh?! 14) totally killer weird percussion/fun as hell beat, wow!! w/ twangy garagey guit lead 15) mid paced w/ cool driving guit and subtle watery synth sounds 16) high energy peppy pingy pogo-ing rock 17) very quiet start (cue maybe?) guitar slashing power pop post punk follows 18) upbeat, almost proggy, melodic 19) mid paced hip grind return to noisy synth rock |
