Album Review |

Eduisa Reviewed 2010-10-09 | ||
Very pretty indie folk rock with tinges of pop. Mostly acoustic stuff (duh), although electric guitars do make a few showings on the album. Bay Area group (Yay!) No FCC’s. The whole album is decent, but if forced to chose, play 2,5,7,9 1.Up tempo, totally sounds like acoustic sixties music! Whistling and hiccupy vocals *2.Slow, really interesting intro with feedback and reverb. Acoustic guitar and whiny, reverberating guitar in background. Very beautiful song, kind of yearning. 3.Down tempo. Acoustic guitar, some harmonized vocals, cello. Folksy rock. 4.Down tempo. Really sad lyrics, mournful vocals, what you’d listen to on rainy days *5.Mid tempo. Arpeggiated guitar chords, soft percussion on cymbals, masked vocals, slightly upbeat chorus with quick guitars, tambourine, and faster rhythm. 6. Slow, just acoustic guitars, vocals and very regular cymbal drumming. Folksy. *7. Mid tempo. Slightly more upbeat than the rest of the album, halting clapping/drum line beat in the chorus. 8. Down tempo. Whiny guitars and some trumpet and make shift marching band drums make this a muted, pretty song that sounds more like indie rock than folk. *9. Mid tempo. Sounds slightly beachy. Chiming sound on guitar, upbeat verses with slowed down bridge. Still more folk than pop, though. Sounds contrary to its title. 10.Down tempo. Piano and cello open up a pretty forlorn song (the lyrics are so sad!). Soulful guitar solo halfway through. Trumpets add a level of misery. I promise I’m not crying. |
