The man behind Amy Winehouse’s biggest songs steps out with his own sound which is thoroughly influenced by 80s synth pop and hip-hop in equal doses. Some mild profanity. Try #1, #3, #8, #9, #12, #14
1) * poppy hip-hop with female chorus MNDR and rhymes by Q-Tip synth stabs and danceable beat with cute French references PROFANITY, 2) funky, syhth pop with a twee brit vocal then bombastic rhymes, 3) **funky and fun song about bicycle riding with rhymes by Spank Rock – synths, funky drums, bicycle bells and catchy vocals, 4) moody, skipping track with layered vocals and almost afro-beat guitar figure, 5) 80s synth-pop sounds in Erasure or Human League mode male/female vocal exchange, 6) short instrumental that reminds me of The Never Ending Story, 7) bombastic hip-hop/synth-pop hybrid – a bi chaotic and quirky with synth stabs, crashing cymbals and stuttering drum march, 8) **funky, quirky instrumental reminiscent of a 90s video game theme song, 9) *anthemic hip-hop track with synth stabs and tight flow by Pill w/ back-up vocals by London Gay Men’s Choir, 10) title-track cheeky, self-referential synth pop tune – clever and annoying at the same time – with huge 80s-pop vocal hook, 11) moody, short instrumental with nice organ, 12)** dancing pop tune with skipping beat and vocalist Rose Elinor Dougal who sounds like Tricky’s guest vocalist on his masterpiece Maxinquaye, 13) cool, soaring instrumental, 14) ** dreamy funky-drum mid-tempo shuffle with synched vocals including Rose Elinor Dougal from #12
