Harmony-Never Shout Never (Sire Records)
Upbeat singer-songwriter folk POP. Imagine spit shined pop punk vocals over folk instrumentation. The teenage love sob lyrics distract from the melodies, which are actually quite fantastic. Christofer Drew, the kid behind this one man band, has songwriting potential, but his overly cutesy lyrics and “I’m like sooooo in love” singing style will most likely annoy the hell out of any listener who isn’t a 14 year old girl. The production is pretty good—if you’re a hook junkie. FCC on 2, 4, 5, 10, 11. Play 1, 6, 7. Doublestuf
1. cheery/catchy as hell let’s all live as one song 2:51
2. beach boy harmonizing, it’s upbeat but jaded at the same time which makes it one of the best tracks on the album. He says “shit” a lot though FCC 2:32
3. ukulele pop, poison cute, devoid of the right emotions for the lyrical subject matter 2:58
4. Justin beiber lyrics. Should probably avoid this FCC 2:36
5. Trashy but in a cool street rat kind of away FCC 1:34
6. Somber ballad. The kind you’d hear a movie star cowboy sing in front of a fake background while grips stoke a fake fire 2:33
7. Terrible lyrics of course, but if you’re in a silly mood, this sugary dancey folk tune is catchy as glue 2:10
8. Alabama campfire love letter 2:26
9. Sounds exactly like the last track except with drums and shakers 2:25
10. Short, fast, and if your mouth doesn’t have a stupid lyrics filter you’ll be singing it in the shower FCC 2:19
11. The “deep” track FCC 2:48
