garage rock/psych pop/girl group revival.
(and they go over various timezones&genres: 30's, 40's, 50's&60's (esp.!) pop and trad sounds.)
originally from sacto, the trio now resides in austin.
trad/pop, some dissonance sharpens things up
this is one of the best albums of 2010. PLAY NOW.
riyl: shaggs, dum dum girls, splinters, dark dark dark, velvets, breeders, ace of cups, peggy sue, girl in a coma, et al.
FCC CLEAN.
SUGGESTIONS: ANYTRACK=GOODTRACK.
BUT ESP. : 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10.
1. ALMOST BEST TRACK: menacing git, it's the hit.
2. slower and carnival sound.
3. even slower...lsd trance...'across the universe at one point.
* 4 ALMOST ALMOST BEST TRACK: it's that old song, 'i'll let you be my baby.', (eartha kitt, i think.) but w/ cheesy gypsy twist!
*5. 40's/50's pop. like something rosemary cloony would do.
*6. BEST TRACK: starts w/ fractured tick tock clock! pure 60's girl group psych pop -it just builds and builds and builds to......
7. back to gypsy dancy! back and forth&round&round....
*8. ah!: it's the depression again! very sweet&it even sounds like it's coming out of an old radio. kicks into 60's girl group refrain.
9. sluggy country type waltz. 40's. sweet&sad. kinda breedy.
*10. the gypsy bitch ez back!: the circle dance is allready kicking it zorba style, and the refrain kills. searing butcher knife gits ala velvets=a great ending.
