The self-proclaimed product of “Lou Reed having a baby with the Jesus and Mary Chain.” Just as its name implies, this album sounds like it was legitimately recorded in your basement. It’s got that awesome, raw lo-fi sound with lots of fuzzy guitars and enough reverb to blast paint chips off your walls.
RILY: Jesus and Mary Chain, Lou Reed, late-era Sonic Youth, Radar Eyes, a less-enthusiastic Pixies
FCC CLEAN! TRY: 1, 2,5, 6
*1. Upbeat and punky. Too-cool-for-school sneered vocals.
*2. The Pixies are playing a benefit concert underwater.
3. Slow-paced. Deadpan vocals with squeals of distortion.
4. Scratchy ringing guitars, muffled lyrics, and steady minimal drumming.
*5. Slower, melancholic. Lou Reed style vocals. Lots of layered guitars and jangly, scratchy percussion.
*6. An upbeat rocker with a truly paralyzing amount of feedback. What is the singer even trying to say?
