Idaho's Hummingbird of Death are here to prove that punk's not dead--and you'd agree with them if this record left you alive. Pummeling drums, a bass with just the right amount of fuzz to cut through, and in general a top-notch level of coordination makes this band a significant one for the decade. With the exception of the final track, there isn't a single song here that won't make you go "how can they play so fucking fast?" But that's powerviolence for ya, folks! This band takes influence from Infest, No Comment, and Crossed Out, but also adds their own new, original direction to things here, not just the fast-slow-fast formula. If there is indeed a meaning to haste, Hummingbird of Death insist that they have a new meaning to share with any ears that are punk enough to listen.
Mosh, grind your face off, play this loud!
1. rhythmic variation, mid-paced powerchord hardcore punk meets mach-ten speed blastbeat parts.
2. Slow, heavy, melodic intro, then the blasting begins.
3. - 21. Not much difference throughout these songs (not in a bad way, though); there are nuances, just not any that could be translated into words. Fast, earsplitting powerviolence, nothing over two minutes.
22. Instrumental. Fast/midpaced for a minute, then exponentially slower and sludgier, just power chords and crushing drums droning on till the end.
