Fuzzy drone rock. Stoner central in space. New Kranky band out of Chicago featuring Ken Camden. Swirly textures, tribal percussive feel, drivingly hypnotic melodic ambience and song structures shrouded in a psychedelic, dreamy, echoey haze. Lethargic tempos and detached vocals but it’s all part of the drugged drone space psych. Fantastic stuff as usual from Kranky. For fans of Flying Saucer Attack, Labradford, Belong, early Bowery Electric.
1. Strummy melodic guitar with distorted feedback, bobby. (1:35)
*2. Distant vocals, balmy FSA feel, insistent rhythm buried in the bendy distortion and fuzz. (5:13)
3. Slow dreamy intro, drifty ambient feel, darkly cosmic. (4:43)
*4. Freaky, dreamy guitar gives way to blasts of fuzz and pounding drums, lots of phaser, circular, hypnotic structure, strange spoken word/vocal combo. (5:00)
*5. Pretty airy vocals swimming in layers of sustained, melodic guitar. (4:16)
*6. Onslaught of fuzz, drowned reverbed vocals, industrial thud and psychy guitar textures. (5:31)
7. Shimmering delayed layers of consonant space guitar, instrumental. Relaxed bliss. (3:24)
8. Looped feel with sequenced electric percussion, heavy overtoned fuzz and repeated guitar strum. (1:38)
*9. Jesus, crawlingly slow shoegaze. Nadja on even more Quaaludes with the flanger effect covering Codeine. (5:33)
10. Spacious ambience. (1:28)
11. Overdriven, repetitive glam guitar effect, light tambourine, slow head nod psych. (5:33)
