Wicked good compilation of classic big band Latin jazz/dance music from the 60’s and 70’s. Brassy, sassy, sexy and full of style. Featuring gorgeously tight arrangements and solid, sophisticated performances full of fun and fire. Every track is a standout and the accompanying booklet full of great info. Gotta be one of the best world CDs of the year so far. 1. Sexy, driving midtempo romp w/delicious clarinet. 2. Fun and dishy cumbia swing w/extra good brass. 3. Nicely swinging percussion drives this track w/a bit of muted sound. 4. Tight brass and happy percussion, snaking clarinet. Sweet & playful. 5. Fun and squeaky intro to a sort of deadpan cumbia w/style. 6. Extra stylish big band jam w/a classic sound. So delicious! 7. Fast brass and percussion meld into a bright and stylish mix. 8. Hot and driving perc/brass/vocals. Infectiously energetic. 9. Stylish wiggle w/some extra good vocals and lots of percussive style. 10. Jazzy and passionate w/solid piano/perc/vocals. Extra hip. 11.
