Two Matchsticks

Second album from The Wooden Birds. Poppy, catchy, indie, dream-like songs with a clipped percussion that permeates throughout. It’s got a slight country feel as well. Led by Andrew Kenny (American Analog Set and Broken Social Scene) with Leslie Sisson (AmAnSet, Matt Pond PA, etc.) and Matt Pond (current A-File). Instrumentation of guitar, bass, drums, male and female vocals, harmonizing. No FCC’s.

1. (2:42) Mid. Plodding beat, airy, poppy. Really has a polished sound.
2. *(3:01) Mid. Driving with hipster guitar and drum stylings, harmonies. Cool.
3. (3:47) Slow / Mid. Playful, up-front percussion with smooth harmonies. Dreamy, drive-along song. Minimal guitar.
4. (2:50) Mid. Upbeat, very percussive, catchy and poppy.
5. (2:54) Mid. Female vocal leading an easy-going gait. Cool steel guitar.
6. (2:33) Mid. Cool beat, nice understated guitar, harmonies.
7. *(3:53) Mid. Bright and upbeat with female lead vocal. Great guitar work, with a bit of a country sound.
8. *(3:25) Mid. Upbeat, country / indie pop with female vocals. Nice minimal guitar work.
9. *(3:43) Mid. Hypnotic guitar, shakers. Dreamy, backing vocals, cool.
10. (2:31) Slow / Mid. Spacey guitar to start. then band joins. Easy-going lope.
11. (2:17) Mid. Strummed guitar, tambourine backing echoey vocal.
12. *(4:36) Mid. Driven by percussion with nice guitar. Another easy-going song, catchy and dreamy.
