Lagan Qord

A compilation of tracks from out-of-print cassettes and demos from California-native and free-roaming spirit Elijah Forrest. Having spent a great part of his life traveling the country, he’s become a “veteran of life” as some would say, and these carefully penned acoustic ballads show it all with their emotional complexity. Nine tracks of nice lonely acoustic strummings, all familiar, and aged nicely with tape hiss.

1. Heavy-crashing electric guitar chords. The layering sounds really cool and is a lot similar to the stuff employed by Swans, etc.
2. Slowly resonating guitar notes with soft muffled vocals. Great sustained glissando elements.
3. Lonely instrumental—subtle piano, guitar and distorted string instruments. Haunted house landscape in the vein of Grey Ghost.
*4. Lonely vagabond wanderings. Great lyrics coupled with some of the best guitarwork on the album. For fans of Caligine.
5. Dark and without hope with slow tumbling lyrics and a spirally guitar riff. Peppered with great harmonic notes.
*6. Moving acoustic guitar plucking with subtle hummed melodies. Great build-ups and complexity.
*7. Another great instrumental tune—no doubt recorded in an abandoned shack by candlelight. Great orchestral swells and murky guitar chords. Eerie.
8. Billie Holiday cover. Slow ballad about age, religion and income discrepancies.
9. Gentle guitar, scattershot firecracker explosions and pained echoing vocals. Dissolves into drone.
