NY*AK - Tight on the White Label: Audio Parallax NY*AK. I initially thought it meant New York & Alaska. Perhaps this makes sense - NY soul/disco mixed with the chill of Alaska. Actually, what this CD has is 5 tracks of slowwww house music based on simple classic funky loops. This is again a fine representative of that "Beat-Down" sound - it's urban, it's cool, but it's not hi-energy. Because sometimes you just don't need it to be fast. Try: 2,3,5. 1) A simple & funky little synth tone looping around a nice bassline, with a looped vocal sample saying "we're going back". 2) Male vocals going in & out, simple piano tones, nice hand percussion. All comes together for a really deep downtempo-house sound. 3) Definitely speaks to the title - ambient sci-fi spacey-ness for the first couple minutes, then goes into a real chill-out house sound. 4) Original version of #3 - fem vocal sample echoing in & out over a simple piano loop. 5) Mysterious ambience, mixed with an insanely catchy funky guitar groove. Neat little bubbly synth effect too. | ||
