COLL: V/A Super Sound Sinle Vol. 3 Label: Dikso This is a really nice little 3-artist compilation that lays out some of the latest in underground disco/house. The idea was popularized in Detroit by the "Beat Down" style, and now little labels in Germany (like Dikso) are producing tons of this material. It proves you don't need to have fast beats in order to get down. All good, but try: 1 & 2 especially. 1) Disco turned head-nodder - funky & somehow mesmerizing. Tempo is slowed down and a vocal loop is thrown over heavy bass & claps. Electro warbles towards end. 2) Slowed-down and stripped-down house. Simple piano loop w/ funky bassline, fem vocal echoes. So cool in its simplicity. 3) A funky little guitar loop w/ disco breakdowns. Sometimes that's all you need to get down. | ||
