Don't let that enigmatic smile on the cover fool you. She's got issues, and every damned song on this EP will convey her angst to you! Still, it's all worthwhile, as Ms. Olsen makes up for all those waif-y "Alice @ 97.3"-types. She shreds, acoustically. I listened to this EP, and was quickly initially disappointed. Perhaps I was expecting "pop".
At the risk of being short-sided, I've decided to give a capsule review of the three tracks on side a: "Tiniest Lights", "If It's Alive, It Will", and "So That We Can Be Still". To be honest, I couldn't tell 'em apart. Forgive my boorish, middle-aged male ways, OK? Vocals sound like Hope Sandoval, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Terri Nunn, Lady Gaga (really!), and that woman at the coffeehouse open mike. Funky, yodeling guitar-driven ballads, fraught with gypsy-anglo vibrato, albeit heartfelt.
b-side "Drink and with Dreams" - almost upbeat. HxJx pick-to-click!
"Some Things Cosmic" - Prom-night opiate make-out fiesta.
"Creator, Destroyer" - Yest another sad lament of love. HxJx's pick-to-click, despite *FCC* (f%#@-you's at end).
