Leather-jacket metal badasses from Gainesville, FL crankin’ out some tight, aggressive thrash metal covers of Discharge, the Accused, Cannibal Corpse, etc. A strange mix, to be sure, but it’s musically cohesive and hella fun. RIYL: loud guitars, Ghoul, Toxic Holocaust, smashing beer bottles in parking lots.
FCC clean.
1. (Accused) Thrash thrash thrash! Chugging tremolo riff destruction
2. (Discharge) takes the whole “nuclear holocaust” aesthetic of the classic British hardcore band to thrash metal extremes
3. (Roky Erickson) I’m always skeptical of tharsh covers of classic rock songs, but this works quite well—not overly indulgent or too faithful to the original. Shake yer fist and knock back another cold one.
4. (Floor) fastfastfastfast sludgy riffs, clean vox (think Torche, Big Business) ohshitIjustbrokemynoseinthefuckingmoshpit (warning: whiplash very likely)
5. (Midnight) Since they got their name from this band’s song, the cover totally makes sense, and is basically flawless. Black/thrash perfection.
6. (GWAR/Cannibal Corpse) whiplash-inducing deadly lightspeed destruction thrashthrashthrash argggg death
7. (Pentagram) thrash cover of a doom band. Macabre, operatic vocals + thrash punk aggression
