DUM DUM GIRLS -ONLY IN DREAMS. as reviewed by mister esquire girl group revival/neo-shoegaze alt pop. a definite move towards an epic pop sound. the 60's/50's vibe is still there, but this harkens more towards the 80's (pretenders, bangles, et al.) mass modern rock interpretation. the dum dum's distortion is also toned down: the vocals are clear! the guitars are clear! (this is total spectorvision=walls of sound.) i prefer the earlier work, but oh well. this is not as, oh, how shall i say, not as... BLADERUNNERCORE as before. p.s. they're a great live!=slick&tight. FCC CLEAN. RIYL: pretenders, mazzy star, best coast, vivian girls, et al. MR ESQ.
