I’m not super familiar with Locrian, but according to what I’ve read, this pair of dark, ritualistic tracks is true to their sound. The A side is a cover of the inimitable Popul Vuh song “Dort Ist Der Weg,” and it’s a testament to Locrian’s abilities that they can serve up such a powerful drone/noise interpretation of a song so indecipherable to start. Locrian somehow add a huge level of dark, heavy sonic force while maintaining the sparseness of the Popul Vuh original. The B side is a more metal, less Krautrock Locrian original, that gets pretty nasty and pretty noisy before bowing out to a brooding piano and acoustic guitar outro. Overall -- fierce, vivid, powerful stuff with plenty of variety in each cut.

01. solid Popul Vuh cover with female vox and shades of metal (6:03)
02. harsher, noisier and more dissonant (6:32)
