Old-time, string-band country, in the manner of the “Will the Circle Be Unbroken” compilation. Players in the band include Arlo Guthrie, Willie Nelson, and several of their children. Singers Amy Nelson and Cathy Guthrie sing with a girlish, coquettish style, which is either adorable or annoying (you pick). Shooter (Waylon Jr) Jennings guests on track 7. Songs are mainly happy sounding, but about very sad subjects.

4 Slow. “Honky Tonk Angel” sort of thing. She lays the Kitty Wells twang on thick. (4:53)
5 * Classic country. She worries if he’s faithful. Bridge has good acoustic guitar solo. (2:51)
6 Mid-tempo. He talked a good story but let her down. Uke and toy piano. (2:39)
7 Fun sounding novelty song, but it’s about domestic abuse. Disturbing. (2:44)
8 *** Mid-tempo. Perfect country song with amusing lyric. Good riddance. (4:33)
9 *** Good story, good singing, and good playing. Compare with “Long Black Veil”and possibly play along with that song. (He left, now he’s dead) (3:12)
10 *** Best singing on the album. Pretty & touching song. Lovely guitar playing. He’s gone and she misses him. (3:12)
