Russian Planetarium-core. Local Gigante Sound duo Jared Blum (also Bill Gould and Jared Blum) and Dominic Cramp (also Evangelista) create dreamy amalgams of melotron, acoustic treatments, found sounds, apocalyptic abysses, and manipulated effects. The duo still sample a bit and create collages of sound art, but the prevailing theme is celestial, melodic waves of a cohesive space trip. Engulfing, highly layered stuff. RIYL Vangelis, the intersection of space and classical music, UFOs. All the tracks are gapless so beware when you play this. Vulcanus 68 are participating in the 2012 Day of Noise as the closers, so give this a spin or two.
1. Old school slow synth and dreamy ambient. (2:18)
2. Warped piano, grainy found sounds and vinyl effects. Deliberate and methodical. (2:50)
3. Bassy, persistent, deep tones march with synth leads, and sharp manipulations of acoustic sounds. (3:55)
4. Buzzy distorted under drone, little bit more menacing with sharp, sparkling feedback tones. (2:46)
*5. Throwback uneasy space travel instrumental. (0:45)
*6. Haunting synths stretch across the landscape. Pretty and dark. This reminds me of Blade Runner. (4:41)
*7. Drones and intense layering of percussion, found sounds, space take-off, effects, etc. (7:18)
8. Calmer sea waves and pretty meletron. (2:09)
9. Choral theme and sounds drown the percussive rattle. (1:49)
*10. Gurgly drone and harsher electronic lead. Pretty but also nightmarish. (3:31)
